The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Washington’s Best Teen Chef 2008

Jerrica Hargett admits that cooking frightens her a bit,but she still has a passion to be a pastry chef one day and create beautiful cakes.  A senior at Frederick County Career and Technology Center, she first started cooking after taking an interest in a cooking class her sophomore year in high school.  She was 15 years-old at the time.

In her cooking class, she was able to pickup on some skills from her cooking instructor and learns from other students in her class.  She admits her teacher kind of became her mentor, teaching her the tricks of the kitchen.  Outside of cooking, Hargett likes to dance mostly in her room to her favorite songs.  While in school she enjoyed all of her classes, not just her cooking classes.

With a culinary arts degree, Hargett hopes to become a baking chef because she likes to create sweets that are pleasing to the eye and that everyone can enjoy.  She gets her drive from her family who supports her 100 percent.  Her friends enjoy the meals she makes, especially around the holidays.  Hargett loves all food and wants whatever she makes in the kitchen to look pretty.
